Medical Isotopes

Niowave’s integrated platform was built to produce medical radioisotopes at the quality and scale that clinical and commercial applications demand. What we have developed for Actinium-225 production today is the foundation for a broader portfolio of isotopes tomorrow. Our expertise, infrastructure, and regulatory framework are in place. As the field evolves, so will our offering.

Actinium-225 (Ac-225)

Actinium-225 is one of the most promising medical isotopes in oncology today — and one of the most difficult to produce at a meaningful scale. As a powerful, alpha-emitting radioisotope, Ac-225 is uniquely suited for targeted alpha therapy (TAT), an emerging class of cancer treatments designed to selectively destroy cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Its short-range, high-energy emissions enable highly precise cellular destruction, making Ac-225 a leading candidate for next-generation therapies targeting prostate cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, leukemia, and other difficult-to-treat diseases.

Drawing on years of experience in advanced radiochemistry and medical isotope production — including the successful development of our Yttrium-90 program — Niowave established a scalable, cGMP-compliant Ac-225 production platform engineered for both clinical development and future commercial demand. The operational expertise, purification methodologies, and quality systems refined through earlier isotope production efforts laid the groundwork for the precision radiochemical infrastructure required to reliably produce high-purity Ac-225 at scale.

Today, Niowave produces Ac-225 with exceptional radiochemical purity and industry-leading radiolabeling performance—a direct result of the consistency achieved through our radiochemistry platform. The performance of the isotope is critical, and our process is designed to deliver material that supports reliable therapeutic development from research through clinical application.

Niowave is now shipping Ac-225 to research institutions, pharmaceutical developers, and clinical partners around the world. As production capacity continues to expand, so does our role in enabling the future of targeted alpha therapy — supporting clinical trials, accelerating therapeutic innovation, and helping build the commercial-scale isotope supply infrastructure required for the next generation of precision cancer treatment.

Yttrium-90 (Y-90)

Since 2020, Niowave has produced high-purity Y-90 to support advanced cancer therapies and strengthen the domestic medical isotope supply chain. Produced from the radioactive decay of Strontium-90, our Y-90 is separated and purified using Niowave’s proprietary radiochemical processing platform — a capability built through years of investment in isotope science, process engineering, and precision manufacturing.

Y-90 plays a critical role in targeted liver cancer therapies, where its localized beta radiation enables physicians to deliver highly focused treatment directly to tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. By consistently producing high-purity Y-90, Niowave established the operational discipline, radiochemical expertise, and quality infrastructure required for complex medical isotope production at scale.

This work also laid the foundation for Niowave’s Actinium-225 (Ac-225) program. Through the development and refinement of Y-90 separation and purification processes, Niowave expanded its capabilities in radiochemical handling, isotope recovery, process control, and high-purity isotope manufacturing — core competencies that now support the company’s growing leadership in Ac-225 production for next-generation targeted alpha therapies.
